Michael Daniels is a cellist, double bassist, music educator, conductor, and adjudicator with nearly two decades of experience working with developing musicians.
Michael is currently the Dartmouth Middle School Orchestra Director, Dartmouth High School Assistant Orchestra Director and System-Wide Low Strings Specialist. Throughout his career, he has worked with composers Soon Hee Newbold and Dean Marshall, as well as the reowned electric violinist Mark Wood of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Michael has evaluated student musicians for the SEMMEA Junior & Senior District Festivals, SEMSBA Junior & Senior Festivals, RIMEA All-State Festival, and RIMEA Solo & Ensemble Music Festival. His experience on both sides of the audition process informs his practical, focused approach to audition preparation.
He has maintained a private studio of cello and double bass students since 2008. He previously served as the Program Director of the Southeastern Massachusetts Youth Orchestras, where he founded the organization's annual summer camp in 2021. He has also served as adjunct faculty at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth preparing students for juries and undergraduate recitals.

Good teaching isn't just telling a student what needs to improve. It's helping them understand how to improve it. I want my students to leave knowing what they're working on, how to achieve it, and feeling confident they can get there.
